How this is worked out

The same fee rules Ecomadarsh uses to check products for its own clients, from Amazon's published fee tables (Amazon.in fees, read from Amazon on 3 Oct 2026).

  • Referral fee: a percentage of the selling price including GST. The rate depends on the category, and on some categories the price band; once the price falls in a band, that rate applies to the whole price.
  • Closing fee: a fixed amount per item, set by price band and the category's fee group.
  • Shipping weight: the highest of the actual weight plus 100 g for packing, the volumetric weight (length × breadth × height in cm ÷ 5000) and 0.5 kg.
  • Weight handling at the national rate (an order going to another region), the safe assumption because it is the highest rate. Heavy & bulky applies above 22.5 kg, a side over 183 cm, or length plus girth over 300 cm.
  • Amazon's fees are shown without GST. Amazon adds 18% GST on them, which a GST-registered seller claims back, so profit is worked out on the price without GST and costs without GST.
  • Ads per sale: selling price × share of orders that come from ads × ACOS (ad spend ÷ ad sales).
  • Returns, per 100 orders: an undelivered order (RTO) costs its ad spend; a customer return costs the closing, weight handling and pick & pack fees, Amazon's refund fee and the ad spend; a unit that can't be resold also loses its product cost. The total is spread over the orders that stay sold.

Not included: monthly storage, removal and long-term storage fees; inbound shipping to Amazon (add it under transport); income tax, your time and Ecomadarsh's service fee.

Amazon changes its fees from time to time. Before you decide, check a product in Amazon's own revenue calculator in Seller Central.
